What volunteer training looks like

From all of us here at Friend to Friend America, we’d like to thank you for your interest in volunteering to visit a senior in need of connection. Our volunteers directly impact the lives of lonely and isolated seniors. We are thrilled that you want to be a part of fulfilling this mission! Friend to Friend America provides comprehensive training to make sure that you feel well-prepared and confident on your first visit with your friend.

Here’s your next steps and what to expect

Download and review each training section. The training is broken into 3 sections with a comprehension quiz the must be completed at the end. You should plan to dedicate about 45 mins per section.

  • Part 1: Visiting your friend: Time commitment, communication expectations, and visit dos and don’ts.
  • Part 2: Reporting requirements: How, when and to whom to report elder abuse
  • Part 3: Sensitivity training: A deeper dive into how to compassionately communicate with your friend.
  • Complete your quiz! Completing the quiz helps us know that you have completed and understand the training.
  • Last step! Click the button to download your Volunteer Handbook: To save or print for your own reference.
