of volunteers in some chapters have the aid of local persons for administration of the program.
Friend To Friend matches volunteers in five Puget Sound counties: King, Kitsap, Pierce, Snohomish, and Thurston. Volunteers are matched in other areas as requested.
People around the globe have requested and initiated Friend to Friend programs in their areas. Those who are interested in volunteering outside of the Puget Sound WA area or want to start the program in their area are welcome to contact the Friend to Friend at 1-888-FTF-7818 or email: marilyn@friendtofriendamerica.org.
Recognizing the concern is shared by all of us, participation in the program as a volunteer friend is OPEN TO EVERYONE regardless of religious affiliation. Friend to Friend links its concern to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, working ecumenically through the Christian churches in the development and management of the program. It is one of the largest ecumenical volunteer programs in the area in terms of numbers of people involved. This has provided an exceptional opportunity for Christian churches to work together and with people of all faith communities in a spirit of unity and concern. They have become bound together in this common ministry in a way they have never before experienced. The Lord’s hand in this effort is truly evident.
Since the program began in 1974, more than 16,000 residents have had a special friend through the program. Friend to Friend shares its information and know-how with others when requested and continues to serve as a model for others who have developed the program in other communities. The office makes referrals to other human care agencies on a daily basis.
